Aston Villa could be a potential destination for Axel Tuanzebe on a season-long loan this summer.
Manchester United have decided to send the 23-year-old center-back on loan, having made just 19 appearances last season.
It was previously reported by the Manchester Evening News that Tuanzebe felt he deserved more chances last season and received a lack of recognition.
Tuanzebe received rave reviews for his performance in United‘s Champions League group stage victory at Paris Saint-Germain in October, in what was his first start in a year.
He has only made eight more appearances since then, with the center-back having only made four Premier League starts all season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has more often opted for the experience of Victor Lindelof in the context of a defensive partnership with Harry Maguire. Eric Bailly was also ahead of Tuanzebe in the pecking order and signed a new three-year contract with the club in April.
United are keen to sign a new center-back this summer, with Raphael Varane and Pau Torres among the targets.
One potential destination for Tuanzebe is a return to Aston Villa, where he has already spent two loan periods.
Tuanzebe has played a big role in Villa’s return to the Premier League and manager Dean Smith has been very complimentary to him in the past.
“He’s a great guy,” Smith said before United played Villa in 2019.
âHe has a great attitude, which will be very useful in his career. I can’t talk about him enough.
âHe was a big part of the reason we got promoted last season. I loved working with him, and I would like to think that I contributed in part to his development.
“I can’t wait to see him, but I hope he doesn’t play too well against us.”
