WATFORD is set to sign forgotten Stoke City midfielder Peter Etebo and lead the way for Will Hughes to leave.
The Premier League’s new boys strike a deal for the Nigerian which is available on loan or to buy from the Potters.
Etebo has been on loan to Turkey for two seasons and has no future at Stoke in the league.
The deal would help Watford remove Newcastle United‘s beloved midfielder Hughes.
Steve Bruce loves Hughes but wants to close the deal within his budget. He may have players to trade.
Watford is also keen to strengthen his midfield options by adding Newcastle’s Isaac Hayden.
As a result, a swap deal for Hughes and Hayden is on the cards, with Watford boss Xisco apparently keen to add more bite to his midfield.
The Hornets were relegated from the Premier League in 2020 after conceding 64 goals in 38 games, with many of those relegated still part of the current squad.
