Watch Chelsea loan star Ethan Ampadu surprisingly sent off for a perfectly clean tackle for Italian team Venezia

ETHAN AMPADU cursed his luck on Tuesday as he was sent off for a perfectly clean tackle.

The 21-year-old Chelsea defender is loaned to Italian side Venezia for the season.

Ethan Ampadu was sent off for a very good tackle on Franck Ribéry

And Ampadu made his fourth Serie A appearance in Tuesday’s 2-1 home loss to Franck Ribery’s Salernitana, coming in as a replacement in the 60th minute.

The score was tied at 1-1 going into the final 25 minutes when Ribery jumped on a loose ball outside the Venezia penalty area.

Alert to the situation, Ampadu leapt forward with a manual tackle to stamp out the danger.

However, the referee saw the opposite as Ribery rolled on the floor.

He immediately stopped play and ran towards Ampadu before waving a red card.

The Welsh international and his teammates were dismayed by the decision.

And he came back to haunt Ampadu as Salernitana scored a game-winning goal in the 95th minute.

The result means that the last-place club is just one point behind Venezia.

And Chelsea fans weren’t happy with the decision to expel Ampadu after he had been on the pitch for a few minutes.

One said: “No question of a bright red tackle, absolutely horrible decision.”

Another wrote: “Terrible decision, it wasn’t red at all.”

One of them added: “Horrible decision by the referee, there is no way Ribery will pass him.”

He has only played 12 times for the Blues, with his last appearance coming in the 2018/19 campaign.
