Former President Trump’s golf course in north-east Scotland damaged environmentally sensitive sand dunes, before and after the photoshoot, according to Business intern.

In 2006, Trump bought land in Aberdeenshire to build there “the best golf in the world.” With the help of Scottish Prime Minister at the time, Alex Salmond, Trump was successful in fending off environmentalists and local opposition – who predicted how the Trump International Golf Links would affect the dunes.

In 2008, Trump was again warned that his 18-hole course would have destroy the sand dunes that surround it. However, the former president was determined, saying: “We will stabilize the dunes. They will be there forever. It will be better for the environment after [the course] is built than before. “

Using Before and after photos of satellite technology from a company called Maxar, the Insider article highlights the sand dunes at Foveran Links between March 2010 and April 2021.

A side-by-side comparison shows that a third of Foveran’s links were partially destroyed on the south side.

Satellite technology provides an argument that Trump International Golf Course on Menie Estate could lose its status as a Protected Wildlife Site of National Significance, after review of scientific evidence by NatureScot.

“The denotification of SSSI [Site of Special Scientific Interest] is unusual, but in this case we found that there was no longer any reason to protect the Menie Dunes as they did not include enough of the special natural features for which they were designated ”, Sally Thomas, Director of NatureScot of People & Nature, mentioned.

Global campaign group Avaaz has taken legal action against the Scottish government for its refusal to investigate the source of Trump’s wealth and how he managed to lose $ 315 million from his golf businesses. The money for the construction came from uncovered loans, Insider reported.
