Northgate Vehicle Hire are proud to have supported their client The Beech Group with the loan of the Mercedes Sprinter Crew van as a team vehicle for their cycling team competing in the Doddie Weir Charity cycling event, the Doddie 500.
Accompanying a team of cyclists on their charity route from Edinburgh to Cardiff, Northgate’s van carried all the equipment needed to complete the event, providing support, support and monitoring of riders’ progress along the way.
The Doddie 500 is a 500 mile cycle ride in which the 100 riders cycled from Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium to Cardiff’s Principality Stadium to deliver the ball for the Six Nations match Wales v Scotland on 12 February. Wales won the match 20-17 thanks to a drop goal from captain Dan Biggar who received the Doddie Weir Trophy on the final whistle.
Organized by the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, the charity supports people with motor neurone disease and was set up by former Scottish rugby player Doddie Weir who was diagnosed with the condition in 2017.
The drive was led by Doddie’s former Scotland and British and Irish Lions team-mate Rob Wainwright in a bid to add to the £12million the charity has already raised since its inception in 2017.
Northgate Vehicle Hire Sales and Marketing Director Neil McCrossan said: “We have enjoyed working closely with The Beech Group to support their involvement in this fantastic event and to be part of such a worthy cause. Congratulations to all the runners who participated. »
Beech Group Managing Director Phil Jordan said: “The Northgate van has been extremely valuable in supporting our involvement in charity cycling. These charity events would not have been possible without the support of companies like Northgate who provided us with equipment and vehicles to help us on our way.
