Tahith Chong has penned a moving message of thanks to Birmingham City after spending the season on loan at the Championship side.
After continuing to struggle to break into the Manchester United squad under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Chong was sent on a third loan from the club last summer following disappointing spells at Werder Bremen and Club Brugge the season before. The Dutchman made 20 appearances for the Blues, scoring just one goal and providing three assists, but endured a campaign of ups and downs.
Chong suffered a groin injury towards the end of 2021 which required surgery and sidelined him for over three months. The winger had returned to United for rehabilitation but returned to Birmingham for the rest of the season after making a full recovery.

Now, the 22-year-old has sent a message to the club and their supporters after his loan spell came to an end after the end of the league season. He wrote on Instagram: “Birmingham City as a whole I would like to say thank you for this season.
“I felt the love from the moment I stepped in. Last year Birmingham felt like family to me and for that I will be forever grateful.
“A thank you to the manager for the trust he has shown in me. All the staff for helping me throughout the season and finally I want to thank the fans for all the support they have shown to the team. Birmingham will always be a family. KRO”
Chong’s contract at United was due to expire this summer, but the club have opted to trigger a 12-month extension which will keep him at Old Trafford for one more season.
