Manchester United academy starlet James Garner could be at the center of a fight for his loan signing this summer, with a number of top-flight teams interested in taking him on for next season.
The midfielder had two league loans last season, first on loan at Watford before joining Nottingham Forest in January.
Garner was in particularly impressive form at City Ground with his assured performances as a playmaker in the deep midfield, a rare highlight in an otherwise disappointing season for Forest.
Unsurprisingly, then, Chris Hughton realized he wanted to loan the United prospect again – but they are likely to face stiff competition.
As reported by Nottinghamshire Live, Garner’s agent has claimed that Norwich City, Brighton Hove Albion and Rangers are also interested in securing Garner’s services, and United are likely to favor a Premier League loan this summer.
Garner has made seven first-team appearances for United so far. His first major involvement with the senior squad came in 2018 when he traveled to the United States preseason with the squad.
He was then named to the bench for United’s final Champions League group stage game against Valencia – but was an unused replacement.
Garner’s debut eventually came later in the 2018/19 season as a late replacement for Fred in United’s victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
He would make six more first-team appearances the following season, as well as eight goals in ten games for the club’s U23 team.
He was loaned out to Watford last summer, and while he was a regular feature for the club, which was later promoted to the Premier League, Garner moved to Forest in January in hopes of being able to start more games.
Although his destination may remain unknown, United are reportedly keen to loan him for the right opportunity.
