Leeds United are not in action this weekend due to the international break and fans will have to wait until next Saturday for the Premier League return.
However, there is rarely a boring day at the club because even when league football is on hiatus people love to talk about Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has delivered a controversial take on Bielsa, while director of football Victor Orta has openly discussed the transfer decisions at the StatsBomb conference.
Elsewhere, Diego Llorente has opened up about his relationship with supporters after returning from injury last week.
Llorente offers insight into Leeds fan relations
Diego Llorente gave an overview of his relationship with Leeds fans and praised the “great passion” of England fans.
The Spaniard made a comeback last weekend, taking the winner in the 1-0 win over Watford.
Speaking to Marca, he said: âFrom day one I received a good reception from the fans.
“It must be a common factor in England, but here everything is lived with great passion and I like the fact that there is encouragement in the good times as in the bad times.”
Victor Orta opens up on decision to replace Pontus Jansson with Ben White
Leeds United Director of Football Victor Orta has announced the decision to sell Pontus Jansson and replace him with Ben White in the summer of 2019.
Jansson, an Elland Road fan favorite, was cleared to join Brentford and White was loaned out to close the gap.
Speaking at the StatsBomb conference, Orta said: âHere in England people have given me a lot of credit as ‘wow, what a masterstroke, what a great decision’ because we sold Pontus Jansson and our decision [was] bring in, on loan, Ben White.
“He had never played a single league game since Brighton after two loans, one in League Two with Newport County where we started watching him, one in League One with Peterborough.
âWe have to know, at the end of the day, that this is a game and that they are talking about predictions. For me, when you make a decision, you have to analyze the past, don’t try to predict the future.

Paul Merson gives a scathing assessment of Marcelo Bielsa
Paul Merson admitted he doesn’t understand why some are praising Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa as a genius.
The Argentine is one of the most respected coaches in world football, but Merson questioned whether the 66-year-old is capable of implementing a backup plan.
In his Daily Star column, Merson wrote: âI never really understood that label of ‘genius’ that some people attach to Marcelo Bielsa. “
“Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s good and I totally respect the opinion of a top manager like Pep Guardiola who is full of praise for the Leeds boss.
“But I just don’t get it. Just my opinion but still valid. I don’t buy it.
“Leeds hit a brick wall and he needs to change things. The problem is, I don’t think he has a change in him.
“Whatever the meaning of ‘B’ in Plan B, it is not Bielsa. He does not have one.”
