Municipal sign John-Jules on loan
Wednesday, June 22, 2022 6:06 p.m.
Town have loaned Arsenal striker Tyreece John-Jules for the 2022/23 season.
“I’m delighted to start,” said the 21-year-old iFollow Ipswich. “I thought about it for a while, but I’m sure I made the right decision.
“I had a meeting with the director [Kieran McKenna] and the people around me, and they had nothing but good things to say about the club.
“I want to help the team as much as possible and contribute with as many goals and assists as possible. I hope that by doing this I will help the team get back to where they need to be.
Blues boss McKenna added: “There’s a lot to admire in Tyreece’s game. He is someone I have known and followed throughout his youth career at Arsenal and in England.
“He is a very talented and versatile striker who can play in several different positions. He has a very high technical level and can play with both feet.
“If he can get consistent form then he is an extremely talented player with very high potential. We are very happy to have him on board.
John-Jules, who has been with the Gunners since joining them aged eight from Charlton, has previously been on loan with Lincoln, Doncaster and last season with Blackpool and then Sheffield Wednesday.
While with the Owls from January, he made just one secondary appearance, coincidentally against the Blues at Hillsborough, after suffering a quad injury, having made nine starts and played three games from the bench for the Tangerines, both without scoring.
In 2020/21, while with Rovers, he scored five times in 15 starts and six under-appearances.
The previous season with the Imps, John-Jules scored once in seven starts after signing in January of the Covid-shortened campaign.
Born in Westminster, John-Jules was capped by England at U16, U17, U18, U19 and U21 levels and is the nephew of actor Danny John-Jules.
The striker is yet to make a senior competitive appearance for his parent club but trained regularly with their first team and scored in a friendly against Al-Nasr Dubai SC in March 2019.
John-Jules is Town’s fourth pre-season signing and the second leading signing after signing free agent Freddie Ladapo following his exit from Rotherham.
The Blues will find out their Ligue 1 opponents tomorrow morning when fixtures are announced with the Papa John Trophy and Carabao Cup draws later today.

I literally scored a Hat-trick against me on football manager this afternoon 😂
Welcome to TJJ, promising young striker. Maybe one more, especially if Piggot is close to exiting and he’s a solid Ligue 1 strike force.

Wow, I don’t know this lad, but he is a current England U21 and looks like he will add pace, power and technical ability. Welcome to ITFC John-Jules.

Huge potential. He could be a very important addition if he gets in shape and can avoid injuries.

Like the fact that our transfer deal was done shrewdly, without much speculation and early to change! See the establishment of a more professional recruitment impose it seems. COIB!

Welcome. I hope it works for you, but it’s too early to judge Jules… sorry.

Seasons on loan over the last two have been mixed – worked well for Doncaster in 2020/21 before picking up injury scoring 5 of 18 but last season didn’t get much playing time with Blackpool then Sheff Wed…don’t know what to expect to be honest.

More physical presence to help get out of the division.

Another early addition to the squad that shows promise. We need to add goals to the team that struggled at the end of last season. Whether or not this guy is the answer, time will tell. So far, the career goalscoring record is very modest. Good luck to the boy.

One Tyreece inside and one outside.
I’m certainly starting to get an idea of the team Kieran is looking to build at Town – height, pace, physicality and versatility which are attributes we’ve been missing for many years.

Pleased with that. I really hope he makes more of a splash than Louie Barry did. I think Mckenna is hedging his bets a bit and he’s not 100% confident, by the comment “If he can get good form”. However, he clearly saw something and thinks he is worth a punt and that will be enough for me. Other clubs have taken clearances on Ian Rush, Ian Wright, Jamie Vardy, etc. and they weren’t playing in Arsenal’s U21s!! Here I hope….

We can actually be a threat from corners this season.

I think KMK knows what it’s doing. He’s seen this boy at international level and we all know you need to have quality to play international football. I’m sure KMK will get the most out of this boy who looks physically perfect for us.

It’s the one I’ve been waiting for, now we have a front line that will challenge. All we need now is to have another attacking midfielder and this team feels complete. A few outings then I predict

I don’t know this guy and although his video clips show some skills it will be interesting to see how he copes with hardened defenders in league 1. Hopefully there you go..
