Christmas week in Kilkenny begins with a bang with a fireworks display over iconic Kilkenny Castle on Sunday, December 19, a joint initiative between Yulefest and the OPW. Tickets must be reserved in advance and the â¬ 3 entrance fee is fully donated to the Amber Women’s Refuge.
Starting at the weekend there will be the last five days of the Kilkenny Christmas Market which will be open on Sunday and Thursday December 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday 20, Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 while the parade will become a jazz-lovers’ paradise every night with sounds from some of Ireland’s most acclaimed musicians, as longtime ‘Sofa Sessions’ move from Billy Byrne’s to the bandstand to immerse us all in. the spirit of Christmas.
