Ethan Ampadu is one of a group of players with a very exciting future ahead of him at Chelsea.
He’s not bad enough to be written off, but not good enough to be sure he’ll get a top spot in the team next season.
Like many others, he will have to come back and try to shine in pre-season.
He has just spent a year with Venezia – who were eventually relegated from Serie A – but he will consider it a success. After a few bad loans, he found one where he could play every week and look good. This at least gives Thomas Tuchel evidence to continue.
” I learned a lot. The expectation was to go there and learn a lot, which I felt like I was doing. Overall, even though it’s a negative result as a team, which also affects me, some of the performances I can take positives from. Every loan has its different challenges, but this is perhaps the most positive,” the Wales international said in quotes picked up by Football.London.
“As a footballer you want to play every game, and as a kid I loved playing every game. It helps on big occasions [playing week in and week out], but week after week you want to play football. Nobody likes to sit and watch it.
The most likely outcome is that he goes on loan again this year or is sold. But Trevoh Chalobah gives all Chelsea players hope that they can make the breakthrough into the first team if they impress Tuchel in pre-season.
