Loan Blues forward Armando Dobra scored his first goal on loan at Colchester United last night to see the U claim a 1-0 Papa John’s Trophy victory over West Ham U21s at JobServe Community Stadium.
Dobra, 20, who was making his second start for the North Essex side in the competition with his only appearance in Ligue 2 so far, found the net in the seventh minute and the international goal Albanian under 21 proved to be enough to win. the tie.
“It was a fantastic end to the goal,” head coach Hayden Mullins told Colchester Gazette. “It was a well-worked and excellent goal for Mando. [Dobra] to score himself, because he does a lot of work for the team.
âHe carries us on the pitch and he’s very bright – it was nice to see him score. We knew the young forwards we were playing would be nice and bright.
“I was thinking [Luke] Rooms and [Tom] Eastman was fantastic at the back and they put it together really well, with Brendan [Wiredu] in the middle of the field.
âIt was about the character and the tempo. We wanted to attack the game, which I think we did and the first half in particular was very nice and it was a good performance.
The Blues and U are in the same group at the Papa John’s Trophy, with Town currently in last place before their trip to Gillingham next Tuesday.

Dobra therefore managed to do what a “strong” Ipswich team could not collectively – beat the West Ham U21s in the tinpot trophy!

Dobra will be a big hit in the future. He is not an ordinary gamer but he needs games to continue his development. Well done Dobs
