Businessman Jack-Rich submits APC presidential form, ready to challenge Tinubu, Osinbajo and others

An oil tycoon, Tein Jack-Rich, has officially declared his presidential ambitions on the platform of Nigeria’s ruling party, the APC.

Mr Jack-Rich, the founder of Belemaoil Limited Productionmade his statement in Abuja on Friday at a press conference.

He said that if elected president, his government would not contract any foreign loans throughout his term.

He also pledged to create 26,000 jobs in each of Nigeria’s 774 local governments on his first day in office.

He said he had submitted his N100 million presidential form to the APC secretariat and was ready to challenge other presidential candidates for the party ticket.

Some of the aspirants Mr Jack-Rich is said to be contesting for the APC ticket are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu, outgoing Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi and Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello.

Like other APC presidential candidates, he pledged his loyalty to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari, saying “all these good ideas will be a mirage if we don’t get the right leader to succeed Buhari.”

“I will not take out a single loan throughout my presidency. We will produce what we consume. God has given us everything we need to consume,” the businessman said.

The aspirant also suggested some of the things he would do differently from President Buhari if elected.

“I will fly to Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna and all parts of the country if we have any problems. I will fly there. I won’t send anyone if they have problems, I’ll fly there.

Mr Buhari has been criticized by many Nigerians for rarely showing empathy for the victims of violence and insecurity in the country. In addition to not visiting many areas and victims of the violence, the president hardly speaks directly about the killings but prefers to do so through statements by his spokespersons.

“The best way to stop all these crimes is with oil and gas and I’m in this industry and we can do that. Everything I’ve worked for will go to humanity,” said Mr Jack-Rich .

He said the reason Nigeria was struggling with inflation was because the country did not consume what it produced.

“This is why you need a game changer. Believe in my visionary leadership whose heart is for the people. I will make Buhari proud, I will make Nigerians proud because I am for humanity.

“Yahoo boys have a gift to develop but they indulge in such evils because they have been abandoned. I tell you because my heart is with you, I will do what is right.

“I will create smart jobs, develop the oil and gas industry and optimize oil and gas in the country. My presidency will strengthen our value system. I will create 26,000 jobs in each LGA on my first day in office and the opportunity, if it materializes, will see an estimated 20,124,000 created on my first term day,” he said.

He did not, however, provide details on how the 20 million jobs would be created on his first day in office.

“I will make it happen. When I create 26,000 direct opportunity jobs on my first day in office in all 774 LGAs, within a year, poverty will flee,” he said.

The aspirant said his policies will apply to all categories of Nigerians.

“For millennials, we need to create infrastructure that will help them develop digital technology. You need a president who can engage the economy of East and West.

“You need a president when you travel outside the country, you will be respected. You need a president who will create jobs, a president who can grow the economy; a president who can create deep private sector engagement.

“You need a president who can think for you, not for himself. You need a president who will ensure that the wealth of the Niger Delta is not reserved for the region, but a president who can use it for the benefit of all.

“You have to have control of your economy and control of your children. With the Jack-Rich presidency, we will produce more, plan more and be respected in the community of nations. We will strengthen our currency and create jobs for young people.

“All I see is hope. All I need is good legislation to support my plans. We will not make policies that are not backed by actions,” he said.

Mr Jack-Rich, 47, had previously appointed a former Bauchi state governor, Isa Yuguda, to head his campaign organization.

On Friday he told the story of his life as a street boy in Port Harcourt after losing both parents.

He said he went on to found Belemaoil Producing Limited, which he described as the first indigenous oil exploration and production company in Nigeria to emerge from an oil producing community in the heart of the Niger Delta.

He studied Petroleum Production Technology at Panola College Cartage, USA; Business Administration at the University of Wales and Business Management at Usam University.

He said he hoped to focus on youth and women empowerment, infrastructure and job creation if elected president of Nigeria.

“The global economy is around $83 trillion and the African continent is only 3% of the global value chain. That’s about $2.5 trillion. it is struggling with California’s economy which has a GDP of $3.6 trillion.

“California is roughly the size of Lagos and Ogun states in southwestern Nigeria and Nigeria accounts for only 19.8% of Africa’s GDP. It is worrying,” he said.
