Brighton midfielder Jayson Molumby has joined the Championship’s top players West Bromwich Albion on a one-season loan, with a view to a permanent move on undisclosed terms.
The 22-year-old has struggled to find playing time at Albion since returning from his loan spell at Championship side Preston in the second half of last season, where he made 16 appearances and collected an assist .
So far this season, he hasn’t played for Graham Potter’s side with his two appearances for the U23s in their wins over Derby and West Ham in BPL 2 earlier this month.
He will now join Albion teammate Matt Clarke and join the Baggies who are so far undefeated in the championship and sit second in the standings, behind leaders Fulham on goal difference.
The Republic of Ireland international will also meet his compatriots Dara O’Shea and Callum Robinson at the Hawthorns.
Albion head coach Graham Potter said: “Jayson has done really well on his previous Championship loans with Preston North End and Millwall, and he’s at the stage where he got that taste of senior football and wish to play regularly.
“It’s a very good decision for him, West Brom have made a good start to the league season and are keen to return to the Premier League, and there is the possibility of playing regularly and potentially sealing a permanent transfer to the club.
“He’s a great professional and he has great qualities.
“We will be following his progress and development this season, and we wish him the best of luck for the season ahead.”
